Fettuccine Alfredo
If soy is the main ingredient of soy sauce and tomato the main ingredient of tomato sauce, one might conclude by analogy that the main ingredient of Alfredo sauce is Alfredo. Luckily for you, the sauce can also be made from butter, sour cream and cheese, so Alfredo is left for dessert.

Peel the garlic and chop it finely.

Cooking the pasta

Pour water into a pot of suitable size, cover and bring to a boil.

Add salt to the boiling water.

Tip: The general rule for cooking pasta: the water should be as salty as the sea.

Add the pasta and cook over medium heat, uncovered, for 10–12 minutes.
When the pasta is cooked, drain it, cover and set aside.

Tip: The package often says how long the pasta should cook. If so, follow those instructions.
The sauce

In a fairly deep frying pan, over medium heat, melt the butter and fry the garlic in it briefly, for no more than one minute.

Add 300 ml of the sour cream and cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring all the time. Take off the heat, add the pepper and stir.

Tip: The sauce is much easier to make if you stir the sour cream a little beforehand.

Pour this sauce into the pot with the cooked pasta.

Add the rest of the sour cream.

Add about 80 g of Parmesan and salt to taste. Put the pot on a warm hob and heat for 1–2 minutes, stirring.
